Strange. The bombs are flying now, it seems like they've been flying for weeks. One by one the lights on the switchboard are going dead: scratch DC, scratch LA, we can't be too much further down the list. There are probably riots spitside; there must be. The scenario would be incomplete without them, without the headless screaming and the last-chance violence. When all the screaming stops, we'll say it's over. Strange, though, down here. We laughed about it, huddled around one table in an empty cafeteria, sharing one dim red bulb and the last of the real food. We shivered and laughed and promised each other that when they started to drop we'd be up there, drunk and dancing in the sunshine, naked and free, waiting for the almighty axe to descend. It sounds so stupid, but I think we really believed it. That somehow this mounting dread would just bottom out, that we'd burst from all the waiting and the fear, our sides would split and we'd all just be happy, happy just being alive and knowing that it can’t last. It's quiet now down here in the workshop, nobody wants to talk. Eyes keep moving, but there's no connection any more. Nobody dares an expression. I'm writing so I don't have to look at them. We're all waiting to die. But why are we waiting? It's up there, why can't we meet it half-way? Do we really want to wait and see? Why can't we do this? I suppose we're only animals. Like the rats and shrews that outlived the dinosaurs, we're only keeping our heads down. The others are heading downstairs to the lab. They say it's safer down there, but I don't know if I want to follow them. They know as well as I do we’ll only prolong what's coming. I want to see the sky again. Welcome to Fan Made Fallout, a Computer Role-Playing Game designed entirely by fans of the original two Fallout computer games. Conceived as an idea by DarkUnderlord in the forums of No Mutants Allowed, FMF began as an idea back when Fallout still lacked any decent working Map Editor (bar the in-development mapper being made by Team-X). Since then, the project and the tools available to us, have advanced considerably. The Official Mapper was released with much thanks to Chris Avellone and some others he Those ideas include:
FMF is currently being built to run as a mod for Fallout 2. This means that you will require a working copy of Fallout 2 to play. However, advancements being made by the FIFE Project mean that at some future stage, should FIFE be brought to completion, an effort to convert FMF to that engine will be made. This relies on FIFE being able to match Fallout in every aspect (including combat and dialogue systems) but will bring some unique advantages, such as higher resolution and the ability to run on Windows XP and newer machines without too much effort on the part of the user. We need your help! As a fan made mod project, FMF is not funded by anyone in any way what-so-ever. We're all working for free in our spare time to bring this beast to completion. While progress is steady, it is far slower than if development was full time. That's why we need all the help we can get. Writers, artists and mappers are all needed to work on various parts of the project. If you think you might have some talent that we can use, pay a visit to our forums and apply. | |||||||||||||||||||||
